Speaker 1:
Bitesized bitches, bitesized bits and discussions coming at ya, welcome, welcome. Welcome to bucketbites. I'm Ryan Poppapost. With me I've got Josh Picard, dominic and Henry from Dark Fusion Systems. Guys, how are you? I'm a bitesized bitch. Yeah, beat me to the punch.
Speaker 3:
Fucking bitches.
Speaker 1:
Fucking bitches. Oh my god. Well, anyways, yeah, so welcome to the show. It's going to be a pretty quick and easy one. Today We're going to have a lot of fun. We're going to talk a lot about games Very, very heavy on the games. Today We're going to be talking about our June game of the month, which is about two weeks late, which is fine, and also bringing up the summer giveaway. If you haven't heard about that, you're living under a rock, especially if you're listening to this now. So, henry, you're here with us today, not as a guest, but kind of as one of the boys today.
Speaker 2:
Love it. Happy to be here.
Speaker 1:
I'm really happy to have you here and happy that you accepted to hang out with us, because the only way I can apparently add to my friend group.
Speaker 4:
Well, i'm happy to be here with you, guys, we are glad we have you. We started off strong with the quacking.
Speaker 3:
That was funny.
Speaker 1:
Yes. So before the show we apparently all discovered the Discord sound board Which, yes, quack. The worst part about that is when I do my Twitch streaming I have that quack, That sound effect.
Speaker 2:
It's a different quack though.
Speaker 1:
It is. It is. But it's like ingrained in my brain, though. Whenever someone quacks, i just go quack, so like just the mimic, so like that's going to be a really tough thing, so that's how we're going to get you. We're just going to. As you're in the middle of a conversation, you're like in a thought, you're going down and just stop going.
Speaker 2:
Exactly It's going to be so bad.
Speaker 1:
Well, because I could barely maintain my thoughts. you know as it is, i don't need you all quacking out there. So, yeah, we're going to be talking about a few things today, mainly gaming, and actually I wanted to start because Josh brought up that he got his ROG ally. I sure did, and I'm prepared. It's right here. I would love to see it, and wow those fingerprints really show. I'll leave you. I see fingerprints, i patched. Oh no, i'm sorry guys, i swear it's not that bad, it's just the lights. So all right, give us, give us the juice, all right. So I literally bought this just so I could talk about it on this show. So I have my. I've had it for about a week. I got it last Sunday, so little under a week. I got it mostly as a comparison to the steam deck, because I love the steam deck. This thing is has like barely left my hand since I got it. So I was like all right, the ROG ally runs Windows native. Let's see if I can pop this up real quick. But so if you want a little size comparison, if you're watching there, almost identical. That's just pretty close in size. But and I got a case on the ally, so it's the ally is way lighter. Like it's, it's hard to obviously tell just from looking at it. But, like the ally is way lighter, which is nice, yeah, very nice. But I have a couple problems with it. One there's no track pads, which the steam deck has. the steam deck has got these two little track track pads on the side, which are very nice Once you get used to them, right. So like when my thumb goes down there looking for them and they're not there and I'm like, oh, that's right. The ergonomics are also a little weird, like the way your hands go on the back. There's just back there, kinda there's, there's, there's lumps on there, but there's, they're kind of tiny. I have I have kind of long yowee fingers, as they call them, but so like the logo back there. Yeah, the logo and the lighting is really cool, but also so there's there's two things with the buttons that are a real problem. One it's got this dumb Xbox 360 circle D pad which, if anybody played an Xbox 360, i don't know why the fuck anybody wanted to do that after the Xbox 360. Although I guess the Xbox one does it still kind of. Yeah, but they've done a lot better.
Speaker 3:
Yeah, it's still a circle, Yeah so fair enough.
Speaker 1:
They're a lot more tactile, more clicky nowadays.
Speaker 3:
That's true, you can like hear it, i think.
Speaker 1:
I still wish it was just a, you know, a cross shaped D pad. And also, unfortunately, i have not really been able to play this since I got it because it does not pass the sleeping wife test. These buttons are so fucking loud, like when you should.
Speaker 3:
Interesting. I heard it in the beginning.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, yeah. So like just playing, like Aziza, my fiance has to be like you have to stop. You have to stop playing that, whereas the Steam Deck it's much quieter when you press the buttons. Interesting.
Speaker 3:
Like, wasn't that the?
Speaker 1:
same way out of the box, though, because I've only ever actually held a Steam Deck once for a total of three seconds. So what would you say it's about? always been kind of quieter, yeah, yeah, because it just has to do with the membrane of the button. You know it's waste like softer just when you press it, which I guess could be a good and bad thing, like there's more of a tactile feedback to pressing these buttons, but it doesn't really help you at all, it just. It just makes for a louder experience, sure.
Speaker 4:
What's the battery life like? I'm sorry It's horrible.
Speaker 1:
Okay, really, yeah, you basically, and they've, oh my God, they've been scrambling. There's been, since I got this thing on Sunday, there's been three BIOS updates And the last one I guess. People have been talking about how it has basically reduced their performance 20%. I haven't noticed, but they're trying to save battery life So they like underclocked like crazy with the latest update. But I just play it plugged in all the time anyway. So when are you going to throw your 4090 in on that? Well, that's the funny thing is, it does have the little extension port, like where you could plug in an external graphics card which I find hilarious. So you know, I technically could throw an external 4090 on there, but I would love to hear a follow up in like a month or two if you could figure out a way to do that. No, no, I certainly. I certainly will, Because I've been going back and forth between them Because the Steam Deck runs Linux. Of course. We talked about this kind of when we first discussed this, And this is 100% straight windows. I love it. Sorry, I'm tripping on my words, But this is all windows. So anything that runs on Windows runs on this guy.
Speaker 3:
So that does need a gun, portable PC, basically 110%, yeah.
Speaker 1:
So what's nice is like Game Pass games, epic Games, like all of that Blizzard, like I got Diablo 4 running on here right away, which is nice.
Speaker 2:
I can imagine that being pretty slick.
Speaker 3:
All that out of the boxes.
Speaker 1:
Well, you could do that on Steam Deck, but you got to fuck around a bit to get it to work Really.
Speaker 3:
Right, yeah, because.
Speaker 1:
Only on Epic Store.
Speaker 3:
Well, Diablo.
Speaker 1:
Diablo, i mean, is only on BattleNet.
Speaker 2:
Oh, battlenet, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, i'm sorry.
Speaker 1:
Sorry, dumb moment. So you can install BattleNet on Steam Deck, but it requires a lot of fucking around, interesting, whereas this is just Windows. So just install it like you would on any other computer, and it's right here. That does lead to some other complications, though, so we talked about it beforehand because you had asked if I thought you know the Steam Deck or the ROG Ally would win, and I was like Steam Deck 100%, just because of the interface. The interface is so easy. It's so easy to just pick any game on Steam and play it on the Steam Deck. This is a little bit of a pain in the ass. Okay, so that's true, yep, because it is Windows. It's just Windows, so you have to navigate with either touchscreen or, you know, use the joysticks as a mouse and a virtual keyboard, and that gets really annoying on the go. Yeah, i mean if you've used an Xbox controller, though when, like, you have it connected to your PC already, like I think you might be a little bit used to it.
Speaker 3:
You know I'd be used to that.
Speaker 1:
Well, i mean yes, in as much as you got that, but I'm talking like this is my home screen right And I have to move the mouse around.
Speaker 3:
Oh, I don't have a set of that.
Speaker 1:
I was gonna say you can't use the D-pad to just like quick snap to some of the icons. Not in, not in everything.
Speaker 4:
That was a thousand thinking too, actually, if you could snap, but interesting.
Speaker 1:
On some things. it depends on whether or not you know the application is designed for a gamepad or not, and a lot of them aren't, because keyboard and mouse is the standard for a computer And this is a computer, right.
Speaker 4:
So how many hours are you getting, though, like how many actual hours of battery life in game? I don't mean just, i don't mean switching between apps and treat like a laptop, but actually, like I said, i can't really say, because so far I've only played it Yeah, plugged in because it so.
Speaker 1:
There are different performance modes and, like the top one, you can only activate if you're plugged in, sure, sure. So I'm like, so far I've just been plugged in.
Speaker 3:
I haven't taken it on the road yet. The performance Dom has a question. Go ahead, Dom Um, does it get hot?
Speaker 1:
Yeah, I'm actually surprisingly not that hot.
Speaker 3:
Oh, really The cool is very good. What about the steam deck?
Speaker 1:
I'd say they're about equal like they don't. they don't get super hot, but I mean, if you put your hands right by the vent, obviously you're going to feel hot air coming out, but it's like it's not that bad.
Speaker 3:
When you touch the screen, does it feel hot or is it not at all? Oh, it's probably way more on the back side of that.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, it's very isolated to the vents which are on the on the top in the back, and that's it. Yeah, so I will say one complaint I have is the USB C cable to charge.
Speaker 2:
It is on the top, which is very annoying because, like when you're playing, you like it to be on the bottom. You're pulling it.
Speaker 1:
You're pulling it Um, but that's a sure. It's also the case on the steam deck. So, oh, is it Okay? Well, so you've been shitting on the ally so far.
Speaker 2:
Is there anything that shitting, not shitting.
Speaker 1:
Is there anything you like about it? Like I will say like there's pros and cons to the window experience. Like I said, like it is nice to have just windows, like to be able to install whatever. I can install mods super easy on. You know older games and it's. It's got that familiarity of just install my game, do whatever and play it Right. Um, it is pretty powerful, like for a portable device, obviously for device that size. Um, it's, it's more powerful than the steam deck, but I'd say they're pretty comparable for what you're going to want to play on it anyway. Yeah, i like the sticks on it surprisingly, like I really like the how low profile the sticks are, yeah, especially compared to the steam deck, which is they sit up a lot higher and they're a lot bigger.
Speaker 3:
You look like a traditional deep end.
Speaker 1:
You look kind of thick, so I do like that. Um, uh, i mean, i guess the main difference between the two is the is just that steam OS experience versus the windows experience. Well, and they've just upgraded that steam OS too. Did they, they did And it's they carried it over. They pushed it public on Uh yeah, I saw that it's on PC. Yeah, on PC. Now, like if you launch big picture, it goes right to it, which is really nice, yeah. Um so emulation emulation, though emulation is a. This thing is a beast for that. Oh, fuck Yeah I didn't even think about that. Yeah, But I mean, with workarounds you can get that working on steam deck too. Yeah.
Speaker 2:
But I mean right, like with windows, it's just everything's. Oh, bro Yeah.
Speaker 1:
Like it's like a legit PSP then Like you get it.
Speaker 3:
you know um, you know, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:
So, henry, when are we?
Speaker 1:
going to see DFS mobile handheld.
Speaker 4:
Oh my gosh, um, funny, you bring it up. Actually, in college I had a. I had a roommate and we were working on something very similar. We never got close, but we were working on something similar to that um unrelated to dark fusion. We were trying to, we were trying to use um. There was like an open source version I don't even know how. I don't know how it was licensed, it's probably what didn't ever took off, but it's called like moonlight or something. It was like a reverse engineered um, like a video game stream tool, and what we, what we were able to kind of get close to doing, is having like a server set up in our dorm room. This is, this is back at Marquette. I'm doing a docs myself. I went to Marquette, um, that's, that's how I did. You can go find dark fusion systems in there. Yeah, anyway, um, but we had it. We had it in our dorm room, like our server, like it was cranking and had multiple video cards, was cranking away And we were able to play like um, like battlefield and you know, on a Microsoft surface, um, but we actually had like a whole business model of an idea out for that We were actually building. Believe it or not. We actually can not manufacture like, uh, handheld devices, but we were going to make them out of metal. It was going to be this whole big thing And it turns out to do that would be like a thousand bucks a pop. Just for the case I was like all right, well, that's enough of that.
Speaker 1:
So you were going to do that Nvidia game streaming thing before they did?
Speaker 4:
No, no, no, they, they had it And some of those devices cause you can get those now.
Speaker 1:
Yeah Well, the shield.
Speaker 4:
This was. This was right around the time when the shield was starting to everyone. Everyone was all about like this is the, you know, steam OS, and this was like this was probably back in 2016. So that all that stuff was really hot. Back then we were not, we were not doing anything particularly unique and but we we the whole model really came around. Everyone gets a video card. They get to kind of like lease. That was the real value add. I'm using a. Yeah, it was. It was a whole thing. It didn't really work out because there's people who are a lot smarter Sweet What.
Speaker 1:
So yeah, So, the way you'd have, you'd have your own video card on the server that you could lease out, and then What?
Speaker 4:
Yeah, that was the model. So, oh, if you wanted a more powerful, you know more powerful, uh, higher resolution experience, it really depends on your network, uh network capabilities, of course, because just because you put a 4090 in this thing doesn't mean you're not, doesn't mean you real play. You know a hundred 144 Hertz uh 4k, you know, i mean with the servers in Chicago and you're in Annago, wisconsin right, i can't, i can't, i still I refuse to do the whole remote gaming experience.
Speaker 1:
Oh no, i can't do it, but it was a pipe dream.
Speaker 4:
It was the. I have mad props mad props to uh, to valve, and mad props to a Zeus for bringing out what they did, because I'm not a brilliant person by any means, and we spent a lot of time on that stuff and we barely got anything out of it. I mean, we had a ton of fun doing it, but we you know, these people figured out something amazing, so props.
Speaker 3:
And it's the longest thing. You had fun doing it.
Speaker 4:
Right, You know it's. It's not where you went, It's the friends you brought with you.
Speaker 1:
Are you still friends to this day? We are Okay.
Speaker 4:
Actually, i think actually he was supposed to be with us, he was supposed to be a host, but I don't think he ever came. on. Tomas, if he's out there, hi, tomas.
Speaker 1:
Oh, tomas from um, he is the uh the chef, the chef down in, yeah.
Speaker 4:
Oh yeah, he's a great guy.
Speaker 1:
How is Henry, like our, our Kevin Bacon, like he knows everybody that we have on the show? I don't know how that happens, it's true, and that when we have, uh, the guy from Fraculation come on, i mean we could have a whole like MGC type. Uh, get together at that point.
Speaker 4:
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 1:
I mean we're from there, so I mean I'd be fun. Tomas wasn't, which, uh, that was a disap, that was kind of an unfortunate situation.
Speaker 2:
One day it'll happen.
Speaker 1:
If you'll forgive us for well, my wife had a. My wife had like a um, like a heart thing kind of at the time.
Speaker 3:
We had to kind of yeah, we actually went to the yard and everything And um that was the first broker heart.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, i did, but she's still with me. She's had a birthday, happy birthday mama post Yeah.
Speaker 3:
Yeah.
Speaker 1:
She's 29 plus four, cause you. you know that's, that's, that's her rule. You know um oh, okay. Josh, you also. Um, i wanted to bring this up right away because I neglected it in the past episode. Um, but there's a game called firmament. Yes, and from I didn't play it. I haven't played it, i don't know much about it, but I have heard positive things about it. Um, up until your whole. Uh, well, they have issues. Yeah, so I brought this to the show because we love our talk of AI generated stuff. So Firmament is made by Cyan Interactive. They made the MIST games And then they made. There was another game that they made. I think it was called Obsidian, i don't remember.
Speaker 2:
Yep, they had a few.
Speaker 1:
So Firmament is their latest game, but, like in the credits, people noticed that it was like some content was created using AI assistance and people are pissed, absolutely pissed. People are so quick to jump, though, right, they're so quick, so were you going to go over like their whole statement, or I was? I mean, i can if you'd like.
Speaker 4:
I mean, yeah, I got it up too. Yeah, if you want to go over it.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, no. so basically they had in their credits it was AI assisted content. So basically it's the way. what I got out of their whole statement was that they used AI in a way to help assist them come up with ideas and with some kind of just creation, just creating the ideas for the artist to do. Everything in the game was still done via an artist or a voice actor or whatever, but they did use AI generation to help come up with ideas And, like I've said it on this show before, that AI like I use AI for idea generation all the time It's such a great assistive, you know tool to use.
Speaker 3:
Your personal brainstorming machine Right.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, well, it's my brainstorming, because my brain can't do it anymore. So what can I say? One of my favorite things ever lately is to just tell Jet JetGPT to write me a Python program that does something, and then, like I run it and I try to figure out, like how it's actually working And that's how I'm teaching myself new ways to program. That's cool actually.
Speaker 2:
That's actually pretty crazy, really cool.
Speaker 1:
So, like there's such a like there is a lot of use to AI that I think a lot of people disregard, just because they're like oh well, you know, it's just copy paste, It's so easy. It's like yeah, but no, there's awesome. Yeah, Well, and it's not always a hundred percent all the time either. So, I do want to say that part of their their kind of statement said our narrative team elected to use AI writing tools to ideate and experiment with how information they wrote themselves is presented in the game. So there was a lot of backlash because I think people automatically assumed, as people do, that they just used AI generation to cut jobs away from artists and writers and especially, like I don't know when this came out, josh, recently, like within the past month or so, okay, so I think that was also blown up with the whole writer strike even could have been a big part of that causing Oh wow, yeah, yeah. So like I get why people would be upset, but I mean I actually am not very mad or upset Like I wholeheartedly believe their statement. So, and I mean, there's such a small team, too, where it's just like and we talked about this before in the past where it's like how can, how much can you fault a small team for going to AI to build a more you know expensive project, versus hiring somebody else when they can't like, they don't have the means.
Speaker 3:
So I mean honestly it's a smart move. But I mean I guess people are thinking into like the future about it.
Speaker 1:
Right. Well, and they say Cyan has a talented team of individuals in parentheses all human beings and parentheses with a breadth of skill and experience, who've been working on the game for over four years from scratch. So, like I don't know, I think people kind of got worked up for a little bit of no reason on the internet.
Speaker 3:
I bet to them it feels like they're discrediting, like the hard work they did actually put into it, because they use AI like once Yeah.
Speaker 1:
That's just it. I you know. Imagine you come up with this great idea and let's say, it's not 100% your idea, like you had the base idea. You came up with and then you heard something or you're pulling. You know just what's the word. I'm looking for inspiration, yeah, inspiration from other mediums or other materials, but, like, at the end of the day, that's still your creation, even though you drew inspiration elsewhere. And I feel like people are shaming them much more harshly just because it was done via a computer generated program, which is weird, because you'd think they'd be a lot more harsh on somebody stole content from a human being.
Speaker 2:
Yeah.
Speaker 1:
You know what I mean.
Speaker 2:
I mean yeah.
Speaker 1:
I mean, Josh knows something about that. He knows a thing too.
Speaker 2:
I don't know what you're talking about?
Speaker 1:
Like, henry, have you out of curiosity, just because I don't think you've been part of many of our AI conversations Have you really, like, delved into AI at all? Like, have you played around with chat, gpt? I'm sure you have.
Speaker 4:
So chat GPT, not much. But I'm going to go back to some former work history. Actually, i was before doing dark fusion systems full time. I was at a company called Speciate AI and it was a data and analytics and market insight tool And basically what it was a startup, of course, and what it did is that you would have these huge libraries of like scientific papers and just basically like peer reviewed studies, as well as some kind of more Google oriented, like just a public facing internet too. But what it would be able to do is it would look. Let's say you were I think you're a Milwaukee tool and you want to find out what your competition was doing in the marketplace, what the sentiment around those things that those companies were doing. It would be able to look through in the time from it. You want to look at what Black and Decker was doing and how people responded to it, and it would give you the articles which it came from. So that was actually. I worked on that for about a year And that was incredibly powerful, but it wasn't the kind of AI that we think of like a chat GPT or Cortana, right, you know, really advanced in a Kaila or something. It wasn't like that, but it had its whole own set of parameters that allowed it to be basically be an incredibly powerful tool. When it worked right, it was incredibly powerful and it produced insights that people were you would not be able to get anywhere else. It was very unique. But again, it's a totally separate type of AI. So that's. I have hands on experience doing that. We worked with a bunch of really cool engineers. It was a wonderful experience. But this is the whole chat GPT thing. Haven't even tried it yet, so TBD, i was thinking about that.
Speaker 1:
I'm kind of surprised actually.
Speaker 4:
Guys, it's been a lot of really cool stuff going on, so TBD on that, like I said earlier, but yeah, that's where my mind's been So cough cough keyboard cough, cough Yeah.
Speaker 1:
I you. When you mentioned Cortana, by the way, i kind of I laughed to myself. I wasn't thinking of you know, halo Cortana. I know, I know I was thinking of the Cortana that, like Microsoft, throws in your windows.
Speaker 4:
Oh God, And like that I thought you were talking about it.
Speaker 3:
I'm like what is it? I thought you were talking about it too, She's so dumb, get away.
Speaker 1:
I don't want to.
Speaker 4:
I'm talking about one of the saviors of the human race and the human covenant war. Come on.
Speaker 1:
Well, i mean for the most part, i mean yeah, it's a total of five.
Speaker 2:
It's captured by the grave mind and the nunchucks. That's true.
Speaker 4:
That's just a menace.
Speaker 1:
But she just talks to you all the time and slows you down And as you're trying to blow up roots, Yeah. And this is happening. I'll never forgive Cortana for just slowing me down in Halo 3. I really mean it If I could meet a complete your mission.
Speaker 4:
Could you watch me die?
Speaker 2:
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4:
I know exactly where I am in Halo 3 when she says that Uh-huh, and the whole view goes Oh man, burned in my brain.
Speaker 3:
I've never used chat GBT before Oh yeah, you're a college student. Get on. I haven't even been there on the website or anything.
Speaker 1:
Why not?
Speaker 3:
I don't know, i just never wanted to use it.
Speaker 1:
How are your grades?
Speaker 3:
Yeah, you got papers to write, bro. My English grades are really good, but I like writing.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, but okay. But what about all your other grades? Well, I guess AI is not used for searching to find answers. That's one of the things AI is kind of bad at, especially chat, GBT. It's not used as a Google. You can't really. I mean you can, but you can't.
Speaker 3:
I mean, i see chat GBT used more for writing papers about either English or historical things, and I don't like doing that because I want to become a better writer myself. I like that.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, good job, dom School is cool. I can't wait for capitalism to just beat that optimism out of you. He's got so much to learn.
Speaker 2:
Sorry, Dom, Oh jeez.
Speaker 1:
Okay, it's okay, is it okay? Is it actually okay?
Speaker 3:
I'm sure it is.
Speaker 1:
We'll find out For now. For now it is, we'll find out later. I can't wait to watch Dom's growth on this show through the years. Just watch him come from this nice, innocent, youthful young man to a highly cynical. Just hates the world. Bald is the rest of us by episode 200.
Speaker 3:
God.
Speaker 4:
Happens, man, don't joke. It comes and gets you The next thing. You know you're like me, it'll come. It'll come in the night, that's it.
Speaker 3:
You can't take it, it's mine.
Speaker 1:
It doesn't matter, it just falls out, bro, it's going to give up on you. That's how that happens. By the way, you're lucky to last as long as you did.
Speaker 3:
Oh yeah, i'm trying to grow it out long too.
Speaker 1:
That's not long for you.
Speaker 3:
I'm one at longer.
Speaker 1:
Oh. No not if you lose the match at bucket fights. Yeah, they don't know about that yet.
Speaker 2:
Oh sorry.
Speaker 1:
No, there's a bucket. We've mentioned the bucket fights.
Speaker 3:
Hairmatch before No, we didn't, we've mentioned Hair versus Hairmatch. After a show. We did, but we never had a promo for it.
Speaker 1:
Okay, Well, it's you know?
Speaker 3:
no, it's ruined. Save it for next time.
Speaker 1:
Come on, there's no, nobody's going to hear this, anyways. So, henry, you're with us today, i am as a host, but kind of a guest, and because it was your first time kind of coming on, you're going to be on, you know, maybe once a month or we'll see how that's going to go. I thought, that, as it being your first month, we wanted to give you the opportunity to choose the first, or not the first, but the game of the month for the month of June. since it's your first time, kind of being part of the show, so do you. would you like to share what that game of the month is going to be?
Speaker 4:
Yeah, we decided on banished correct, That is correct.
Speaker 1:
Banished.
Speaker 3:
Oh banished.
Speaker 1:
Yeah. So I don't know if, josh, i don't know if you've ever played banished before- Never heard of it.
Speaker 2:
It's a crime, sorry.
Speaker 1:
I mean, if you don't play city builders or RTS. Yeah, that's what I was going to say.
Speaker 4:
If you don't, yeah, if you're not like an absolute complete degenerate nerd like me, you're not going to know.
Speaker 3:
I was trying to.
Speaker 1:
I was trying to get my fiance to play this, actually because I found it, because she was into a game called Outlanders, which was a mobile game that's on Steam now, and she was trying to find something like it And I saw this and I was like try that, oh dude, so for sure, like ban, i'm not, you know, since banished is our game of the month, i'm not going to bring up. Yeah, don't, don't, don't shift it into a different game, You know but banished is, i think, one of and, henry, please correct me if I'm wrong I'm sure you've put many more hours than I have. I've only got maybe around.
Speaker 4:
Let me see what I have.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, i was going to say I got to look. Actually I just redownloaded, i don't know, oh shit, okay, well, maybe I don't have as many hours, as I thought I did, it's got like 16 minutes. I've got like five hours into it, Oh that's nothing. I was going to say, compared to other city builders, i've got hundreds, you know, so Are you looking, you know a lot of city builders are heavily inspired by banished For how they're like, how the game actually runs Right.
Speaker 4:
So just talk talk about the game a little bit. Henry, I've been Yeah. So, um, so I think it came up. No, it's okay, i think it came out um the 2014 maybe. Oh, my goodness, maybe 2015 is a few years ago now. Um, and what banished is really? but it's like, it's um, it's like a survival city builder. So, basically, you're like it's, it's um, i guess. Imagine you're, imagine like it's you're settlers Yeah, you show up, you show up in the new world and you get basically, like a barn, some food, you know a carriage full of goods and a huge forest of rock and minerals and so on, and trees and everything, of course, and maybe you get, depending on the difficulty level, you get seeds, you know like actual crop seeds. Yeah, maybe, yeah, and you maybe one or two, uh, different variations, depending on, uh, you know what difficulty and you have to, you have to create a thriving society based on that, and you have weather to consider, you have disease to consider. Um, there's, you know the actual, so they're actually creating a lot a lot a lot can. Um, but creating, you know. Creating also like a healthy environment where you have variation of food and it sounds fairly easy when you talk about a game like I love city skylines, but that's a game where a lot of it kind of just forces itself to work. You really have to guide your people's hand throughout the whole way. Like city skylines, you create something and just kind of let it go. It'll at least basically function. You won't have death waves. You can, everyone can just starve out in the first year, that's it, and you just reload. Or you've played, you've had one save for for 20 hours. You've worked so hard on it. Dysentery hits, you get hit by a tornado and much of nomads come and give you, like you know, a disease or something, that's it. There goes 20 hours of your time. So creating a system, systems and systems in your society maybe it's food reserves, maybe it's having the right amount of medical staff, having having a medical herb herbs, you know and reserve It's. It's this whole multi-layered game and there's a crazy amount of at least back when I was playing in quite a bit. I got like 400 or something hours on it. But back when I was really playing it there was a crazy cool modding community. It was very active, despite the game being, you know, eight years old now. There was quite a lot of mod support. So I'm not. I mean, i kind of want to get back into it. It was a ton of fun And you can get lost really quick in a good way You can get, you can get yourself buried in all the cool. Okay, here, maybe if I create this mechanic, or maybe I put a mine here, i put a smelter over here, like I can create like a zone of the traffic that's only going between these two units, but then I put like a bar so they all fit it, they all finished working, they go to the bar, they're happy and they go to their home and sleep and they're not, you know, running across the city freezing to death in the winter. You know I may put the farms in a certain area. So you create these efficient systems. It's, it's kind of cool. It's very nerdy, very cool, easy to get lost.
Speaker 1:
It's a huge time sink, like you don't realize it either. It's like playing, like you know, like a game of it's a one more turn, kind of civ. Yeah, exactly, you know you get to the next year and you're like Oh, but I can do this. I'm notorious. I play a similar game that was heavily inspired by banished I'm not going to say the name of it right now, just to keep the focus on this particular game But I'm notoriously bad at finding better ways to do something. So I just totally scrap my city and start completely over, because I'm like Oh, but I, this is way more efficient. And now I do. Do you do that at?
Speaker 4:
all I sometimes and actually banished is kind of cool about that. Well, it depends, you know. If it's like a revolutionary thing, Yeah, sometimes I will, But banished is cool. Well, banished you might, you should, you might want to get back into banished then, because there's a lot of so there's a lot of resource reclamation opportunities. So if you do want to change things, no, you want to have the infrastructure to be able to take a supply shock like that. Right, if you knock out your only mine in town and you are running low on iron to build pickaxe or general access to like make firewoods, you don't die in the winter. You knock out your only source of iron, like you're screwed, you might as well GG. But if you have the infrastructure to handle it, you can start to. You can start to modify things as you see fit. Oh, my gosh, my population has boomed. I've created a suburb or something and I can't have a mine here anymore because it doesn't make sense for my economy or my operations. You can start to. You know, you can start to dynamically make yourself more efficient. Does it make sense, it's cool, it does, so I'm so I'm so jealous for someone who's never played it before to pick it up for the first time.
Speaker 1:
I mean, it's awesome.
Speaker 4:
It was a wonderful time.
Speaker 1:
Well, Dom has not, I'm pretty sure. Well, neither has.
Speaker 2:
Josh, i've never played it.
Speaker 1:
But to be fair, like you're, you're talking about all this stuff. It's going way over my head, like.
Speaker 4:
I'm.
Speaker 1:
I give it to you Two hours, two hours, it happens, okay, okay, that's fair. I I like I can't keep track of all that stuff, you know what I mean. Like I'm such a monkey brain where I'm just like I see flashing lights and I want to click that Like. You know what I like, i can't like. It was just weird because I'm like a computer scientist. Oh so when are we going to the bottom? Dude, I just went to the bottom for the first time. It was awesome.
Speaker 2:
What Did you?
Speaker 1:
really Yeah, like, yeah, like a month ago or so, two months ago. Um, anyways, yeah, it's great, my first time gambling ever. I was like, oh geez, i got a guy out of here. This is dangerous. It's scary. It is scary, Uh, but not actually like it was fun, but I'm not, it wasn't like a worry, Um, but uh, like I have an admiration for the type of people who can have that type of awareness and like focus on the, on the game, Like, like Henry, you talking about like optimizing your economy, and you know, like I'm like that's awesome. I could never do that You could.
Speaker 3:
I don't know if I could. I don't know if I could I thought the same thing. Me too. You know what. Fair enough.
Speaker 1:
I don't know if they draw me in, because I played like, uh, i played SimCity 2000 back in the day. I played um city skylines when it first came out and I don't know, never really gripped me too much.
Speaker 4:
You might like this one, though, because there's a more sense of an urgency to banish the game. Like tornadoes and city skylines Like. Oh no, my system's not efficient, like, but you don't have to worry about food crops, weather, diseases, um, you know, just sink holes or whatever Right, You know there's an end game. Yeah, there is, exactly, the real is where you said the skylines is a wonderful game, but there's. There's not real red, it's a video game.
Speaker 1:
right, It's not real red Yeah.
Speaker 4:
Right, which is still cool, but also the UI in this game. Sorry, i'm going on a rant here, you guys, but the UI and ban it, for I'm super heavy duty, adhd and it really you can. You can customize where you want the things in the UI, what to show up to. So if you only want to focus on certain things, you can just actually block out, you can actually redesign your UI. I don't know a lot of games You could actually do that and customize it to how you, how your brain works. Yeah, that's cool, that's very unique, and I think it's only one person who developed the game to a very, at least a very small squad which is I just like the Zeus thing and the val thing. Props to these people. Yeah It's, it's tough out there and people who pull this stuff off Right, amazing. Oh for sure, only respect.
Speaker 3:
I've never been really into like city builders, So um, I don't know It's not negative, it's just not a cup of tea.
Speaker 4:
Brother, give it a try.
Speaker 3:
Give it a try, give it an hour.
Speaker 1:
But like no, you got to give it to. I don't know, it's really got to.
Speaker 3:
It's got to hit the right spots for me to be really into it.
Speaker 4:
I think the urgency is, does it?
Speaker 3:
for a lot of people. I'm very picky, you know. If the music's like mediocre I might panic.
Speaker 4:
There's, there's banging music actually in banish the music's decent.
Speaker 2:
So so, and his mods for better music too.
Speaker 1:
Oh yeah, there's a lot of mods, uh, so what we typically do for our game of the month is we will have a giveaway set up and, like you, would go and enter and join or whatever. I think what I'm going to do for this one is I'm actually going to do so. I put out a calendar not too long ago and on Monday next week I'm actually going to be or unless one of the other two here would like to stream the game on the bucket bites channel as our game of the month feature, and we were just going to give away a copy there to somebody who was in the chat hanging out. I figured that would probably be a pretty fun way to go about it, just because on the, the shorter month and you know, if the turnout's not that great, maybe we could do something just at the end of the month too, during one of the shows too. Uh, because I think our last episode of the month is next week because we are off the following. So just to throw it out there, uh, but like I said, i know I will for sure, unless one of the other two would like to do it instead. Uh, be playing banished on the bucket bites Twitch channel on Monday. So keep an eye out for that, and we will be giving away a copy, and if you already own it, maybe, uh, um, you can get a code for, you know, for this frontier or something instead You know. So, anyways, that's well, i'm not going to go down that road. I'm not going to go down that road. Speaking of video games, we just had a pretty crazy week, um, in gaming news, just in general from the whole summer games fest. Um, you know, it started with the PlayStation thing. We kind of talked about it, uh, before last week, um, but then we had the Xbox, we had Ubi. I said Ubi, ubi soft.
Speaker 2:
We had you know, i said Ubi soft too, though.
Speaker 1:
So it's well. I've been trying to train myself to say Ubi, because that's how they say it Um, so I would like to hear um, for those of you who watched, i know Henry uh, you've been slammed, you've been slammed. So, uh, i'm not going to ask you. But Josh and Dom, whichever one of you wants to start, just if you want to key highlights from the shows Monkey Island Well, monkey Island, what? See a thieves? Well, see a thieves. Yeah, okay, that was my big thing. I really wanted to ask you because I was actually doing, i was watching it live on my Twitch channel and Dom was hanging out and I'm like, oh, it's Monkey Island, but like, why do I feel like Josh is gonna hate it just because it's see a thieves? I don't hate it.
Speaker 2:
No, are you gonna play?
Speaker 1:
see a thieves now just to do the Monkey Island stuff.
Speaker 3:
I've played see a thieves. I don't hate it.
Speaker 1:
I don't hate it.
Speaker 3:
I think we should do a bucket bites thing where we all play. See a thieves. I agree completely.
Speaker 1:
So I heard the Monkey Island theme song start playing and I immediately like yelled. I was like uh, it's like. I was like stop yelling. Like meanwhile in our living room there's four Monkey Island posters on the wall. Like there's no context clues there to you know, i love Monkey Island so much. So the music started playing and it was Microsoft and like I hadn't heard any rumors about anything Monkey Island, so the moment it came up that it was see a thieves, i was like all right, that makes sense. And it's actually kind of cool. Did you see online that the see a thieves Twitter account was like going back to old tweets from years ago to everyone who was like tweeting at them saying, hey, we need a Monkey Island thing going here And like, hey, it took a while but we did it. Like here.
Speaker 3:
I thought that was a really cool PR mission like Microsoft actually See a thieves is one hell of a game, even though, like, i feel like it's dried out for me that the game is still really solid and fun. I like it.
Speaker 1:
I like it a lot. But yeah, like you're, i don't know, like, i've played it a few times and it just I don't have much to do, but it seems like there's a storyline and it you know it's. They got all the voice actors back besides the Chuck, but his voice actor unfortunately passed. But now, that was before the last Monkey Island game, too, they had a new voice. It was slightly after, but they had a new voice actor because he was sick, right, but yeah. But like I'm super excited to play through the story, i'm super excited to visit Monkey Island and Melee Island like in 3D, like, for the first time ever, just be able to explore the islands, like that's awesome, that is so awesome to me. So, yeah, i'm, i will be there with bells on man. I'm very excited for that. Also, very quick piece of trivia. So Monkey Island was based off of Pirates of the Caribbean, the amusement park ride at Disneyland, oh wow.
Speaker 3:
Was it really?
Speaker 1:
They're. Yes, They were going to make Disney was going to make a Monkey Island film, an animated film That fell apart and they reused a bunch of the elements in Pirates of the Caribbean, the film.
Speaker 2:
Oh, oh, oh.
Speaker 1:
So there's a very long standing kind of tie between those two franchises. This is the first time they're actually crossing because, if you guys remember, there is a Pirates of the Caribbean, yes, sea of Thieves thing and it's, is it good?
Speaker 3:
It's pretty solid At Stan's used shipyard.
Speaker 1:
He's selling the black pearl.
Speaker 2:
Yeah, yeah, yeah, from.
Speaker 1:
Pirates of the Caribbean. So for the first time ever, monkey Island and Pirates of the Caribbean are actually like together Yeah, are actually overlapping for the first time. I thought that was fucking dope. All right.
Speaker 3:
That's I got.
Speaker 1:
I wouldn't doubt that It gets me pumped up, man, Just like when someone says dope, like and they mean it And they but but when they mean it like there's a whole different like feel behind it, i love that. Oh, i mean it. I fucking I love Monkey Island. Man, i anything Monkey Island will get me excited. When I heard those three notes the do, do, do and I was like, all right, i mean whatever this is, i'm in So and.
Speaker 3:
I'm sure the expansion will be good, because Rare and Sea of Thieves, their past storylines and things have been always very well made besides being a little buggy, but they usually fix it pretty fast And I wouldn't doubt that the Monkey Island one's going to be a fun little experience.
Speaker 2:
Yeah.
Speaker 3:
And there's a lot of exploration in the DLCs too. You can like say fuck the main quest and just run around the island for as long as you want.
Speaker 1:
That's what I'm excited for Just run around Monkey Island. Oh, i can't wait, dude. What was the game, josh? long time ago you made me play it Shit. Oh, it was just cause. Just cause to get just cause to. You know I'm going with this with the hatch from law.
Speaker 2:
Yes, yes, yeah.
Speaker 1:
I remember I bought that game just because you told me about that. I just I don't know why that reminded me of it, but you, that was the one of the coolest Easter eggs ever. If you just flew over a random island in a plane, your plane would break in air and then you would have to land and there was a hatch on the island And I think there was a. There was something that was supposed to represent the smoke monster too, but I don't remember what it was. That's years ago, probably like 08, 09, maybe. Yeah, damn, i love that game. I got a people have people have been suggesting the just cause franchise for me for years. I got to do that. That would be a good one, mainly because I don't remember anything from it.
Speaker 2:
There was a story like.
Speaker 1:
That's what I always say.
Speaker 2:
I was just blowing shit up.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, just blowing shit up anyway.
Speaker 3:
You guys said 2008, right.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, 2009.
Speaker 3:
I was five.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, yeah, i mean my gosh. You were shut up, so, dom what, you kind of watched it with me. What was something without going into some of the maybe the heavy hitters what was something that really stood out for you during the?
Speaker 3:
show Like the smaller ones.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, yeah, like I said, just not like one of the heavy hitting games for me the Star Wars one count Yeah. But were you actually excited for the Star Wars Cause you've been shit on it.
Speaker 3:
I want to like talk shit about it, talk shit about it.
Speaker 1:
I'm so stood out in a negative light to you.
Speaker 3:
I got first of all. Ubisoft is making it.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, ubisoft.
Speaker 3:
Ubisoft. I hate those people very much. And it's a Star Wars game with like a generic character being like the main character when there's so many like different things you can do in Star Wars.
Speaker 1:
But it's like classic sexist wants to play as a man. No, it's not that.
Speaker 3:
It's not. he wants to play as Mando, that's what he wants. He wants to play as a man. Don't worry, i was against that. I want to be a Mandalorian. I'm not even gonna. That's honest.
Speaker 1:
Oh, that was, that was good, that was really I missed it?
Speaker 3:
Did I miss a joke? I said you want to play as a man, Dolorean? Oh wow.
Speaker 1:
Wow, i do want to say on that game I think it's cool because they're kind of treating it. I'm not overly excited about it because it is Ubisoft. But you be soft. Yeah, i'm sorry, don't know, don't, don't flip, flop it on me, you can't do that. Okay, so, just if it's not already known. But at this point I do not like anything Ubisoft makes. Don't say it, i'm look the bits over.
Speaker 3:
I've done it.
Speaker 1:
I can't can't go back to the well every time. I can't remember the last time I liked a Ubisoft game Watch Dogs. I didn't even like Watch Dogs. The first one was the other one.
Speaker 3:
I like the first one.
Speaker 1:
I'm sorry. I think Rayman Legends was a new soft game I like that game. Anyways, far Cry Any of them. Oh, i do like Far Cry. I liked the. Far Cry 3 was the last time when I liked Okay, well, that's, that's far back.
Speaker 3:
You play five.
Speaker 1:
I did not.
Speaker 3:
I was okay, i was like a clusterfuck, isn't it?
Speaker 1:
I heard I was like chaos, i like.
Speaker 4:
Oh yeah. It was a lot of chaos, rocksmith.
Speaker 1:
Oh, actually do you know what? No bullshit, I actually like that game. There's this guy. There's this guy. I watch him all the time when I'm working and he's just sitting there rocking out playing Rocksmith and like he would like. he's actually a pretty decent guitarist and he's self taught only from Rocksmith and I think it's the coolest fucking thing and I want him on. I like when people lie online to.
Speaker 2:
Mario and Rabbids Did you play?
Speaker 1:
that at all. I know my kids did, though.
Speaker 2:
They had rainbow six siege sucks. I don't like siege extraction.
Speaker 1:
No, i don't even know what that is. What about just dance? Come on Game of the year? every year I don't get there's actually. There's actually a picture of Josh from a long time ago when I was playing just dance on connect. I think it was just dance and I posted the picture of me like jumping up in the air and Josh's comment was don't post. The only reason you this picture is your profile pictures, because you don't look fat. Wow, i was an asshole But it made me like. But I see, but at the time I was actually much thinner than I am now.
Speaker 2:
I don't remember saying that I'll find it, so I'm a different man.
Speaker 1:
Now I've learned a lot of grown anyways. So but no, the but also grown myself where now I would post pictures where I didn't look fat. Well, it happens to the best time bitch, i know right time. Yes, it is a very much is. But the point I was trying to make was I'm actually kind of excited for the Star Wars game, even though it is Ubisoft, because of the fact that, just for the fact that I think it would be really cool to have a Star Wars, gta ask smuggler kind of game And that's kind of what it is. It's an open world smuggler game. They have a wanted system for Christ, you know, for Jiminy Christmas.
Speaker 3:
Cool Actually, you know I'm going to be very blunt about it how I feel.
Speaker 1:
Oh yeah.
Speaker 3:
I'm very concerned about this main character like because she's a woman. No, no, there is very good woman like leads and games like Laura Croft, the Hellblade chick, the I don't remember it. I don't. everyone likes her from those new one. Sure, i don't like those games.
Speaker 1:
Okay, because there's a woman. No, it's not that.
Speaker 3:
Anyway, i'm just concerned that's going to be like a very generic Ubisoft type of character Ubisoft.
Speaker 1:
What they showed, though? what they showed did. Look it honestly, it looked nothing like an Ubisoft game.
Speaker 3:
And, like I said before, at all period?
Speaker 1:
Wasn't it mostly cinematic?
Speaker 3:
They should know there's a game play trailer.
Speaker 1:
They showed a bunch of gameplay at the Ubisoft Connect the next day.
Speaker 2:
Got it.
Speaker 1:
I didn't see any and I watched it was like in like 45 minutes, i think, a gameplay or whatever similar to the Starfield type thing, you know thing that they did right, it looks pretty extended.
Speaker 3:
Look type deal, are you a?
Speaker 4:
big Star. Wars guy Henry you know me, of course, like a lot of people, grew up with the original trilogy, you know, and then and the sequel trilogy I I saw the latest films in theaters, you know, so I just not that great. Anytime, anytime you criticize them, it's like, well, you know you this and that it's, they didn't have a plan, go with the plan. That's, that's you could. It's evident. They admitted it like the talent. the talent was there. Yeah, the money was there. Leadership wasn't. That's my personal opinion.
Speaker 1:
That's a good overview, i think you got, you got.
Speaker 4:
You got some of the best people on on site. Get someone who knows how to lead the team. That's it.
Speaker 1:
That's why I think the TV franchises are going way better, because they got Yeah, what's his name.
Speaker 3:
What's his name for Rory?
Speaker 1:
For Rory.
Speaker 3:
I just called him Dave. Dave Filoni too. Right, right John.
Speaker 2:
Ferrari.
Speaker 3:
For Dave.
Speaker 1:
It's John. It's John Favre, favre, i thought it was Favre, it's Favre.
Speaker 2:
I was making a print Favre joke.
Speaker 1:
Yes, I'm like wait a minute, i would, you could, you could have, you could have thought you could have pulled.
Speaker 3:
No, it's, it's, it's it's John Favre, yeah. I even know, that's how you say it.
Speaker 1:
Yes, it's John Favre, but yeah, like he seems to kind of have a grip on everything, since you know stuff Well, i guess Boba book of Boba fat wasn't good, but you know, okay, i didn't hate it, it's okay. So, henry, just just kind of bringing in just a little bit What was your favorite. Just while we're on the topic of Star Wars games, what was your favorite Star Wars game?
Speaker 4:
Holy crap. Okay, does it need to be a recent, or can it be?
Speaker 1:
any of them, anytime Okay.
Speaker 4:
I know it's actually now that I've replayed it as an adult. Say, koto, no, don't worry. So it was. It was Star Wars, rogue, squadron three and the GameCube. That was not objectively not like the most amazing game, but I had so many fond memories of using both of those Boba Fett ship and just really being a dick to my friends because they're not after five.
Speaker 1:
I think that was factor five.
Speaker 4:
It had this like I don't know, but it had this and it's like mine, that will be a huge role on people who had never played the game I was.
Speaker 1:
I was bad, it's like factor five, one of my, one of my favorite developers.
Speaker 4:
Yeah, that was a wonderful game. It was stable, it was fun. I mean, obviously it's easy to say battlefront or something like that, but no, rogue Squadron three was that. Was it man? That was my favorite. Of course there's all the Jedi, survivor and all these beautiful games. I think the games actually have it going more than the normal multimedia stuff I think. Correct me if I'm wrong, i haven't. I've done a lot in the Star Wars universe in a while, but it was funny.
Speaker 3:
The sound you made was is one of my like sound alerts on my Twitch stream that brown, yeah, yeah, i love it. I love that noise so much. It's cool, it's haunting, right It is. Even though there's no sound in space, it's still fun to imagine.
Speaker 4:
Are you guys? any guys played the map or people have but the mass effect games.
Speaker 1:
Oh yeah.
Speaker 4:
So you know the Horn, that's cool to wait.
Speaker 1:
What was it? What was it The?
Speaker 4:
so you know the Reapers.
Speaker 1:
Oh yeah.
Speaker 4:
You know they come in like cleans the universe of life. They look that Reaper Horns don't want. That's a haunting throw throwback. Or the laser sound to whatever it is, when they're invading Earth, i think, or invading some planets and earth, but that was a throwback. Mass effect, three Yeah, so many cool the sound engineers behind that.
Speaker 1:
I don't know man After playing this effect. I don't know You don't like mass effect to dude. I replayed mass effect to and I fucked it all up at the end and I got so bad. Yeah, we'll see, but that's you know that's just it, though like that's, but the first time I played mass effect to I did everything perfectly by chance, like by happenstance, i just happen to do it perfectly Nobody died, everything was great, the world was awesome. and then I replayed it recently and I'm like all right, i put so much time into it. I played the first game like almost 100%. I played the second game almost 100% and fucking everybody was dead by the end of it and I was just like fuck this game out in a while, like it. There's a card flip flop. I've been waiting to do it. It only took fucking 15 years or whatever. But no, i, i, i don't know like I didn't hate mass effect 3, i hated the ending that was it was just the ending. Mass Effect 3 was actually a pretty great fun game, is a great. I love the multiplayer to that multiplayer. Yeah, i remember that was so much fun at the time post always tells me that I need to play those games but I just keep you do the legendary edition is so good to have been played all the Batman games either.
Speaker 3:
I'm really behind. You should play the games. Yeah, i only play night to mass.
Speaker 1:
No, you should. No, you should go back. You should play Arkham Blackgate, and that's it. And then just be happy for the rest of your life. So getting black, it's not that good. I've never even heard of that one. It's like it was a I think Vita and like DS game that they ported to PC, and it's not that good. It's a side scroller. It's like a.
Speaker 3:
Metroidvania. Another game on the showcase that got me excited was the reveal of another like a dragon game, and the trailer was my new favorite character in it, you bond. He was naked on a beach in like Miami, i think, or he's somewhere in California. He was naked on a beach and the scene they shot with like things covering up his penis.
Speaker 1:
It was the awesome power style. Yes, it was. It resonated so hard with me what I've never played my mind. Well, i've been watching Aziza play through all of them and what blew my mind was just hearing English, like now that he's in America, like I was.
Speaker 3:
Like what the fuck, it threw me off, so that's so weird. I'm really excited for that. They had a another like that a summit or showcase thing shortly after that one, after the Microsoft showcase, and no gameplay of it, just a couple cutscenes, but it's. It's enough to like get you hooked in, especially because I know the characters in that game now is that is that?
Speaker 1:
is that eight like officially you?
Speaker 3:
know what I mean. Like is maybe, i don't know, i don't think there's an official eight, but that might be official.
Speaker 1:
I don't know because, from what I remember, with the last time they talked about sequels, there was going to be the, the guide in game, which is the man who forgot his name?
Speaker 3:
that that one's canon, by the way. That's that's actually happening.
Speaker 1:
Yes, yes, yes, it's, it's canon, which is weird, but we'll go over that later. And then they were going to have an eight, which which is going to be, you know, kazuma and itchy bun that's okay. So yes, this is the eighth game, then okay that is, that's the one so so Kiryu is going to show up in this one and yeah in the, in the naked American one.
Speaker 3:
They said that he is. There's two protagonists it's him and each of them, so I think you play as both of them and he's going to be a.
Speaker 1:
It's going to have gray hair and be a hot grandpa. Yeah, i do want to say the marketing was on point because, as someone who's never played any of the yakuza games, like a dragon play that one. It made me want to play that, yeah. The weird thing is, though, because this one is probably going to be a turn based RPG as well, because guidance going to be more of the action going to be on the dragon engine, which would be more.
Speaker 3:
Beat him up, right right, right, okay.
Speaker 1:
So. So yakuza forever was like a beat him up game and they always changed engines as well yeah, and so and this is fine. So with seven they switched to a turn based RPG like out of nowhere but people loved it was really really good so.
Speaker 3:
I 100% that game. I barely 100% games.
Speaker 1:
I have not seen that one at all yet working on it. Don't worry about me, you can't nuts. I've not seen that one yet. Zeeza hasn't played that one, but I don't know. I'm excited. I like persona a lot, so if it's anything like that, i'll be in Can.
Speaker 3:
I have so many persona games.
Speaker 2:
Yeah, like there's only five.
Speaker 1:
But it's so crazy that they had before persona for on game pass today they started throwing them all on there.
Speaker 2:
I've never played any of them before I don't like anime.
Speaker 1:
I don't like a lot of that stuff, but there's something about that game that like drew me in and, my holy shit, i actually kind of really enjoy this. My daughter was making fun of me for playing, but yet she's sat there. But she sat there and watch me play it. I was gonna say well, because persona for is interesting in that you're, you're solving like a almost like a murder. Was it Pete? was it for maybe I was playing, maybe I was playing five, it's the one with the school.
Speaker 3:
Well, they all have schools, oh yeah, they're like high school kids, i think yeah, they're always high school kids, but but for is?
Speaker 1:
they're like trying to solve murders that are happening with the midnight channel, if you remember the night channel. Okay, then, that was for. Five is more of like trying to get justice for, you know, people who are wronged by other people. No, i was playing five, that's. That's what I was five the Phantom. Thieves yeah, i'm pretty sure is five. Okay, five is really really good. Like five is a perfect place to start the persona series. Well, good that, i'm glad that they they hooked me, they hooked me in. But while we're on persona, yeah, also announced was a remake of my favorite persona game, persona three.
Speaker 2:
Yeah, reload, i think, is what they're calling it what?
Speaker 1:
what was it reload?
Speaker 3:
I think, it's what they're calling it yeah, i don't have the list.
Speaker 1:
I don't have the list up in front of me right now, unfortunately. I think it's called persona three, reload Yep, correct but, it's removing. It's removing the fatigue system, which I'm okay with because that kind of sucked, it's just. It's just a time waster. You know what I mean? sure? So the fatigue system was basically, if you took your team out, they would have to recover For a certain amount of time before you took them out again.
Speaker 3:
Oh, That seems like it ruins, like the fluidity of like a game.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, it's like who cares? Just let me take my team out and grind right. So I'm fine with them removing that. Yeah, i feel bad because I we weren't able to fit it into one of our previous episodes, but they actually, like, leaked it ahead of the Microsoft yeah, they posted it on their Instagram On accident and then took it down right away as if nobody fucking noticed. You gotta love it. You gotta love it. Yeah, shit, there was a couple other games, but before we continue on with the showcase and It'll give Josh a moment to hear, finish up. I did. I did want to bring up that for All of summer, bucket bites is doing a giveaway. If you haven't heard of it by now, you're living under a rock. We're giving away.
Speaker 3:
Wayne.
Speaker 1:
Johnson system.
Speaker 2:
I'm sorry what I forgot he had that up Oh.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, he, josh, has his BRB. I hate Dom's green up for some reason, but it's okay. It's okay to be hated once in a while down, but anyways. So we're giving away an awesome system from Dark Fusion Systems. It's a value to about $2,000. It's got a 3060 ti, i forget. It's got AMD processor I forget which one, but it's six core. The 7600 yes, the 7600. I know Intel way more than I know AMD, so forgive my ignorance. Okay, can you explain to me real quick, henry, why Like I laugh about it and I joked about this last week that the system is like it screams like you know, 1440p, 1080p, like resolution, you know if you're like for gaming, right, but It's got this really high clock DDR5 RAM, yeah, so it makes me laugh.
Speaker 4:
So I'll give you I guess I'll give a really high level explanation as to why that is. Yeah, so Particularly AMD, though We actually use Actually use like the same speed and CL speed sale rating on all of our All of our AMD and Intel builds. But AMD in particular, uses something called use something called infinity fabric. It's a technology that they had. We're basically the Ryzen chip. Effectively, the Ryzen chips need fast RAM in order to do their job properly. Okay, i'm just gonna go the mucking with the technical details, but Ryzen loves RAM. Right, ryzen wants low latency, high speed RAM. So that system has DDR5 6000 megahertz. It's like CL 30.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, that's fast.
Speaker 4:
So effective, effective timings are low. Just good, you want low timings. Yeah, you don't want to like So that, and you know that that's basically we use like two or three kits In all of our builds. They're just really high quality, solid, reliable kits, and that was one of them. Okay, all right, so that's the high level right now. That's high level to me and you can.
Speaker 1:
You can watch it at last week You mentioned and I'm like, yeah, i kind of understand that, but I'm not a professional computer builder.
Speaker 4:
Yeah, but that's the new sweet spot, for Ryzen is about 6000 megahertz actually, that's the new sweet spot And DDR5 has a faster, higher frequency. It is the Casual term sure sure cuz you know quote-unquote. You know fast RAM In DDR4 days was 3600. Now, that was the kind of that quote-unquote sweet spot for Last gen, the 5000 series, sure, but now it. Now we want about 6000 CL 30 So making me feel insignificant down here. No, and that's a great place to be, but yeah, basically it's. It's a really solid build. That's actually very, very similar to the one I use every day, like yeah, actually, actually I think that she's exact same thing, like actually the exact same card and model to the ones on ideally drive. Yeah, these are for video work.
Speaker 1:
Well, like I said, when we were thinking about how we were gonna build the system, what we were gonna put in it, what kind of performance it had to be, we wanted to make sure that it was. You know, obviously it was Something that people could enjoy play all the newest games, you know, at a decent freight rate, at a pretty good resolution, like I mean. You're not gonna be doing 4k, 144 Hertz playing, you know, you know control or that's an old game, what's a, what's a cyberpunk? Right, you're not gonna be playing, you know, something like that with the ray tracing on and everything, but you're gonna have a 4090 territory, then well, that's, that's just it, but you're gonna have a really good gaming experience Pretty much with whatever you're gonna be playing and the system looks good. It's beautiful. It's got the bucket bites paradise blue, very pretty, it's gorgeous system blue.
Speaker 3:
It looks way better in person, by the way. It does the pictures, don't do it justice If you pull it up It's good, it's gonna active camouflage out again.
Speaker 1:
I didn't bring it down here for this episode, because I did the review last episode, because I did the review last or the review last week. But if you're in chat right now, you can do exclamation point summer prize. Exclamation point summer prize in chat and that will link you to the bucket bites dot gg slash summer dash giveaway page. Anybody in the 48 contiguous United States and 18 plus are able to enter with no purchase necessary to win.
Speaker 3:

Speaker 1:

Well, it's funny you say that Because if you didn't want To wait to see who wins at the end of August, you can also just go and buy one from dark fusion systems And we have a discount code with your bucket bites. That's this absolutely right to do it, it's you, did you stole? So Yeah, no, just go to dark fusion systems, comm Mentioned bucket bites when you're inquiring and checking out, and you'll get a sweet, sweet, sweet $150 off your build And that'll just help further cement our partnership here with Henry.
Speaker 3:
So, henry and gang, It's not just Henry and reengaging.
Speaker 1:
There's stuff. Yeah, i did want to ask you, henry, just real quick. Yeah, can. If somebody wanted a 4090 in the dark Phoenix Pro, could they get it?
Speaker 4:
It depends on the model.
Speaker 1:
Okay, so you You could get a 4090 Provided you can.
Speaker 4:
You can fit a 4090 founders edition.
Speaker 1:
Only the founders.
Speaker 4:
Because, yes, to my knowledge, there's not any third-party board partners, our board partners that have a car that's gonna fit. Last I looked, i mean they're huge. It's a $1,600 video card and they're they're big. I mean it's like $600 in plastic. It's a big card, yeah, and then I have. I have a pro. It's dark in here. There's a pro actually right?
Speaker 2:
there.
Speaker 4:
It'll fit, But it's got to be a founders edition right.
Speaker 1:
Well, i asked I only ask you that because I was at work the other day And I was talking with somebody and they want to build a really discreet Sim build Okay, and he wants to go, and I Don't think he needs to go 4090, like he definitely doesn't, but he wants to do the four, you know, or the three 4k array monitors sure so he can run everything at ultra and like he's kind of probably pushing 4090 territory for what he wants to do.
Speaker 4:
You're pushing three 4k monitors. That's your best bet you have right now. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1:
But he's also considering doing VR, in which then he does not need a 4090, and I told him actually to reach out to you, so I hope he does Love that dude. all this telling to mention bucket bites- I did. Trust me, i did a whole spiel. Excellent, i did a whole thing. So, yeah, you can go to bucket bites that GG, you can enter there to win a free PC. That drawing will happen sometime in September As the final days October, august You gotta make this smaller. Josh Days without Josh spilling something is at zero I that's. That's my new favorite counter Also like I said, if you want to build yourself, the really cool thing that Henry does is Like he payers to what you need and actually like right now I'm I have conversations going with Henry at Dark Fusion about a build that I'm gonna be buying This summer, and he really does go in depth on like, hey, what are you using it for? What programs are you gonna use? Like he's really doing a lot to make sure it's catered to. What I need is gonna be the most efficient system that I need, so That's always our goal. So, dude all this.
Speaker 3:
PC talk makes me want to get an upgrade, because This little tank.
Speaker 4:
I have bucket by over here, yeah.
Speaker 3:
I know a guy Yeah, i need to get an upgrade, and every time I just like think about it's like I Don't know what I'm gonna actually upgrade it.
Speaker 1:
I mean, you should upgrade it to a new one. I mean, you should upgrade it soon so you can play fucking Skyrim for me.
Speaker 3:
Well, i mean, like the graphics card's, like Like breathing out smoke when I try to launch a Skyrim. It's just trying to be the dragon Wow role playing PCs nice.
Speaker 1:
I, i didn't want to mention just because, uh, just because old man assassin out in chat said Dama win because he wins everything, that's true, i can't participate in this one.
Speaker 4:
I'm down here, But this time buddy.
Speaker 1:
I can't, can't get it. No, i made sure that nobody from bucket bites or their immediate families can can win the system. So wait, my sister can't win. Sorry, jess, stop listening now. There's no point, uh. So One last thing. I know this is kind of dragging on and I apologize, uh, but I there's a lot to get out about it, because you guys are Either watching us live right now, listening to us on Spotify or your favorite podcast platforms, or you're watching us on Um youtube as a replay. We give away special codes. So Ideally, if you want to be really smart about it, you can watch us live, then listen to us, then watch the youtube replay and you could potentially get 75 Actually I think it's actually 80 total entries per episode. So the people who listen have the best chance to win.
Speaker 4:
Okay so right now the brain.
Speaker 1:
I'm going to be giving you the um live Code. Just give me a minute. I'm actually on the wrong page, fancy that nice. I know right.
Speaker 4:
Well, i had to clarify earlier too with with the video card. So the card that's in the giveaway machine It's a really nice asus 30, 60 ti, um. I have the msi version of that. Basically it's an almost exact same card, but just by msi that's an um. Both are amazing cards. Like well, it's overclocked too.
Speaker 1:
And can I ask you, um, because I know what this is well, here, let me give away the code first. Yes, so for the live stream code, or if you're listening to this, um, audio or video only, you'll get your respective codes. Uh, but today for the live stream, it is code D, as in dog, 9 x, 2 c, 5 q, 1. Okay, that is your code. You can go to bucket bitesgg, go to the summer giveaway, go to the Correct section for special codes And you get. I think for the live, you actually get 30, and then for the audio and For the video replay you only get 25.
Speaker 2:
So Sorry, i punched my microphone twice.
Speaker 1:
That's okay. One last thing that we do on that Is, if you interact with our social posts whether it's a picture you're liking, sharing, uh, retweeting, whatever Every now and again we're going to find somebody that's helping share our stuff And we're going to reach out to you in a dm And say, hey, thanks for being awesome and helping us out, and we'll send you a code for even more points or entries. So we really do want to encourage people to listen and share and be awesome.
Speaker 2:
Yeah.
Speaker 1:
That's a lot.
Speaker 4:
I love it.
Speaker 1:
There is a lot to that giveaway, but I there's. you know it's a big deal, It's a really big deal It is
Speaker 4:
so it's an awesome machine, seriously.
Speaker 1:
Thanks to josh from suggestive gaming, um, for being part of that. Uh, really do appreciate you, brother and I don't just spill champagne, i also spill generosity. Yeah, you do So, quack. uh, oh god, dude, it's ingrained in my brain to do that. I can't break it. Um, i'm sorry, when I live stream, someone quacks, i quack. So back to The summer games fest recap. Um, specifically the microsoft I. There was two things I just wanted to say. Number one They could not have started the showcase for microsoft Any better than they did. Hmm with fable. With fable, i will say that I was slightly disappointed at how the show ended, but they couldn't have started it any better. And, josh, i'm kind of curious because I I believe that you were a fable lover. I loved two and three. I never played the first one. Okay, you never played the first one. Um, i loved fable one and two. Uh, three was fine. Yeah, i let me let me Clarify. I loved playing three co-op. If I was playing it alone It would probably be fine. It was just a fun experience with who I was playing it with, right. So playground games you might know them from forza horizon games.
Speaker 2:
I think that's pretty much all they've for itself.
Speaker 1:
That they've. I think that's pretty much all they've done. Um, but they were tasked with creating a new fable and I thought that the trailer that they showed was All cgi like. I figured it was just cgi trailer And I even told dom that when we were watching it live, i'm like, oh man, i can't wait to see what the game looks like until we went back and watched it and I'm like, oh, my god. It says gameplay like you know, whatever, like there's cinematic gameplay. So it really reminded me of a game called bramble, which kind of has this like Alice in wonderland feel, where, like you, you're kind of like really small and everything else around you is really big And there's giants and trolls or whatever. I'm curious Do you think that the new fable game is going to? I mean, obviously there's a giant because they showed it in the trailer. Yeah, richard, yeah a way. Yeah um and dom. Do you know who that is, by the way?
Speaker 3:
Say that again.
Speaker 1:
What's his name? Jess Richard? I don't know. Richard, a way, i think is his last name.
Speaker 3:
Probably not no.
Speaker 1:
Oh, he actually voiced a robot in the mandalorian. Yeah, he's ig uh.
Speaker 3:
IG 88. No I g 88 was the?
Speaker 1:
wasn't ig 88 the one from the original star wars?
Speaker 3:
Oh, what did the battle joy? did he play the battle joy? the?
Speaker 1:
assassin droid. Yeah, that, um, that, yeah, you know, i don't I don't want to spoil too much, but that was also like five years ago um, he ends up reprogramming him and then he's yeah, Yeah so he he played him, but. I mean, he was also in the the it crowd. He was in. Well, yeah, and that's where he's better known for.
Speaker 2:
I just I just think of something that dom.
Speaker 1:
I think a dom might know because it's mandalorian. But anyways, besides, besides the point Um, everybody should go watch garth morangies dark place, which he's also in, which was a fucking phenomenal tv show. Um, my ringtone is actually from that show. It's only six episodes. Go watch it really. Yeah, okay, duly noted, sir but he's got a great voice. Oh it's, it's very soothing for sure. Uh, and I okay, let me ask you this Do you feel like what you saw made you excited for the new fable, ish, okay. Do you feel like they're taking fable in a way that's So like something that was great about the older fable games? is that you kind of Like? obviously they kept that, that, that cheeky british humor right. But it was more of a like it didn't take itself too seriously, and that's what I think most people loved about fable Uh. Do you feel like they're taking anything like any of that away? No, not from that trailer. They were kicking chickens, right? Well, yes, okay, they were kicking chickens and they had the side I. I feel like it's gonna be a more serious take, while keeping serious some of well hold on. It's not inherently serious, but they're. I feel like they're gonna tone back how silly it actually was. I think that that was just this trailer, though, because I think it was a bait and switch Perhaps. It's a like giant man trying to crush Small man care and it's and it's Richard, a way like it'd be different if it was like the guy from, the guy from the vavitch, like some big like. Did you ever see the vavitch? I've not, i have not but, it's been, it's actually been one of the. Now I won't get into it Here, but there's this big burly guy and he's got like the deepest voice ever. Like if it was that it would be one thing, but it's literally, richard. A way to is like I, i make, i uh.
Speaker 2:
I make the veg, exactly I got, i've got the best pumpkins. Anyway.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, um, so okay, well, there's. There's a few things that I'm, i'm, i'm happy about. It's supposedly still an action rpg, like I was kind of worried because, like so, when I watched the trailer, when I watched the trailer, it really did remind me of bramble, and now dominix saw me play that game. That game is not an action rpg, that's very much a narrative short story. It's, it's a fable, you know, um, so I was kind of nervous about It becoming more of a linear story rather than a branching.
Speaker 2:
Oh sure type thing.
Speaker 1:
Fable, fable two and three were pretty linear, if you let them, yeah, but you know you had the illusion of choice and they did a pretty good job of that and You know there was a lot of building your character up how you wanted it to and I felt like, you know, there was a lot of freedom that way, where it has a game like and I keep saying bramble, because it really did remind me of bramble a lot I gotta, i gotta check the game out because, um, I.
Speaker 2:
I love that game. By the way, i have no frame of reference.
Speaker 1:
So bramble, yeah, bramble's, basically well you'll. You'll maybe hear more about that game later, but Oh yeah, haha.
Speaker 3:
Spoiler alert um, and in another thing in the showcase me and post were excited about was south of midnight post an eye. We were excited about south of midnight, which was a remember, the guy with the banjo.
Speaker 1:
Oh yeah, oh yeah, that was kind of.
Speaker 3:
that was kind of interesting Yeah it was made, made from the people that made we happy few, uh, contrast as well. And It's saying it's a spellbinding third person action adventure game Set in the american deep south, whatever. Yeah, i think that has a lot of potential to be something fun.
Speaker 1:
I wish you, i wish you could have seen it. I I know I'm kind of.
Speaker 4:
I'm kind of sad. Now, you guys, what?
Speaker 1:
I loved about that trailer is the black faces coming from like shit, they did the uh into the spider-verse style of animation.
Speaker 3:
Yes, yeah, that was really cool.
Speaker 1:
The. The camera moves in 60 frames per second, but the characters are like way less.
Speaker 3:
Yeah, that's so cool.
Speaker 1:
No, it was, it was perfect. It grabbed me immediately um.
Speaker 3:
I'm sorry, I got excited. I just saw the cyberpunk dlc again and I got excited. Um, I I'm very biased towards that game and I love cyberpunk and I've been waiting for the expansion for so long And I am going to pre-order it.
Speaker 1:
Do you feel about knuckles the akidna being in it?
Speaker 3:
I'm, i love I. It's amazing. I can't wait, i can't wait. It was a good game. I thought they were gonna make the expansion free, though. No, they never said they were gonna make the. Oh, i thought they did, and I might have been in another game.
Speaker 1:
There's a huge misconception online right now, where they thought they promised all this stuff because the game sucked at launch, that they were gonna offer all the free dlc and whatever and all the expansions are gonna be free like that. That was a misconception And I don't, i don't know the truth. I don't know the fact on it, but that was. That's why there's like some uproar.
Speaker 2:
No.
Speaker 1:
I, at least from my, from what I remember it was always going to be a paid Expansion afterwards, much like witcher had, witcher had three of them, you know. So that was always the plan. But they, but they basically said we're not gonna make paid dlc until we give you the game We promised you that you thought maybe that's where it's getting twisted. Maybe that's Right.
Speaker 3:
I'm just very excited to dive back into that universe and immerse myself. I'm definitely gonna do another world through with it ran.
Speaker 4:
It was great.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, i didn't have a problem when it first ran, but I also had, you know, a top of the line rig. So I feel for the folks who couldn't play.
Speaker 3:
I play on my series X and it does it very well So yeah, well, a reason.
Speaker 4:
Often for me they're not not the same system I have now, but I had a pretty Very intro level system. I was running it on, all right, but it would run fine. But then Weird things like it wasn't like, wasn't like performance issues necessarily, it's like things we get glitched, like I get stuck on things And I'm like I literally can't do anything. I have, i have to quit.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, I don't think that was performance based.
Speaker 4:
Maybe that run is the right way to say it, but I was getting stuck on this thing Like.
Speaker 1:
I would. Yeah, i'm not smart, so I was. I was smart enough lucky in my playthrough where nothing really broke Like glitch-wise, except every now and then I'd get to an intersection and a car would just fly through And I mean in air.
Speaker 4:
That's just more Milwaukee kind of stuff. I was used to it.
Speaker 1:
It was no big deal. No, i had the whole like roads disappearing thing and like roads not existing, like they legit. There was no texture in the game for it There's always interesting. So that was, but that was right at release.
Speaker 3:
But in the showcase there was a couple of misses in my opinion. Um, like payday, i think payday three. Yeah, they just announced that that's gonna like Cool, I guess nobody wants payday. Diehard payday fans probably like oh.
Speaker 1:
Oh, it didn't look bad, but, like you said, like They're way too late to capitalize on payday at this point, i think that genre of gaming's falling off.
Speaker 3:
Yeah, yeah, severely. I think like that would have done well back in like 2013.
Speaker 1:
The fallout.
Speaker 4:
What? no, no, the payday. I don't, it's something, it's, it's, i don't know, i think I think, having that really super hyper Cooperative gameplay, it can be a lot of fun.
Speaker 1:
So we think it really made it real quick.
Speaker 3:
Yeah, it would work. Yeah, it definitely be fun with like a group of friends, but that's with a lot of games though true, true, true.
Speaker 4:
Yeah, i'm just a funny payday. I Love to pay to.
Speaker 1:
I loved it. What was it? What was the big outrage with them, though? There was like a like, a thing like people were mad at the devs of payday. They were a couple.
Speaker 3:
Yeah, i don't remember a couple times and most of them, like I remember.
Speaker 1:
One of them was with the h3 people.
Speaker 2:
Okay.
Speaker 3:
Oh shit, we have them.
Speaker 1:
The issue was that they did a like a character pack where you could buy Ethan and ELA Wait why, as as characters like pissed about. Well, the idea was that all the proceeds were supposed to go to their fund for like youtubers who were being like What's what I'm looking for? they were being like targeted legally. And There was, there was a whole thing where there was supposed to be a fund to help out other youtubers who were getting like targeted legally True, but um oh wow, apparently they just pocketed the money and it didn't actually go to that fund. I this is a legend, i don't know, but that's why.
Speaker 4:
Oh, so it's not like payday's fault This, or it was no it was the developers were taking, so PD developers or the company was taking the money holding it.
Speaker 1:
No, no, no, no, no. Well, no, it went to. Yeah, I, henry, you're correct. Like it wasn't payday's fault, it was because that they gave it to you know.
Speaker 4:
H3h3, but they didn't.
Speaker 1:
The way that they said they were going to Rip it on payday that. I think it was just. That was just one of the controversies. I remember them being guilty by association. Yeah, pretty much Oh no, i think there was another one Payday to controversy. Let's see, let's see. Oh, microtransactions. Apparently there was a problem there.
Speaker 4:
Sure, oh, that's never a great spot to be, Hmm.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, that's right. I just like I said, i remember there was, i had a negative, oh. That's yeah, that's what it is apparently overkill said that they would never Put microtransactions in the game, and then, like, shortly thereafter, they did, but like in a way that they were like no, no, no, it's not microtransactions, we swear.
Speaker 3:
And another game. I think it's only like two other games to me that missed, but they're already like games that exist.
Speaker 1:
Overwatch to yeah, oh, dude, they had a trailer about it.
Speaker 3:
Wait, there's an overwatch to yeah, Oh yeah. That was the biggest.
Speaker 1:
I'm gonna miss I've ever like thought also the biggest drop ball.
Speaker 3:
Oh, don't big time during the stream, when post and I were watching, i Told him to look at the chat of the when they were pulling up overwatch and then people were just So like The whole thing was like they took away the PvE thing that they promised was gonna be happening, with all this cool stuff.
Speaker 1:
And then they're showing this fucking trailer with Story PvE they're adding like little stuff.
Speaker 3:
Did you ever play any of the events and overwatch to? I mean overwatch at all. They had little events, pve events and they're like little fun, little things, and that also helped to build up the hype for the overwatch to. Basically it's gonna be like that, but over time and They were showing the abilities on the trailer that were just like normal abilities Compared to like the big trailer they had before it was special ability.
Speaker 1:
It was so bad, it was ridiculous, it was pretty, it was pretty rough.
Speaker 3:
It was a cool trailer if PvE was actually gonna get well, if they didn't shit the bed two weeks prior, it would have been fine.
Speaker 1:
I think if they show that right after way before two weeks, was it well, i thought they only announced that they weren't doing the PvE. Well, they announced that they weren't doing PvE, but how long have they been Sitting on their fucking hands on that? You know what I mean. Yeah, the game was supposed to launch with PvE. Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 3:
That's good They've been said I Think it was like rumored that it's been a couple months since they stopped working on it And they just announced it not too long ago.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, it was just a formal announcement. Everybody saw it coming, yeah.
Speaker 3:
Yeah, i feel like they should have shown that trailer During that time where they canceled PvE, because it would have made the blow. It would have hurt still. They would have hurt them a lot, but I think the blow would have lessened. That they showed that.
Speaker 1:
I Think the trailer literally just should have been overwatched to we swear it exists, go play. That's, you know what the worst part is like I still enjoy playing that shit with my kids, like my wife will play that even. Like it's one of the few games my wife actually enjoys playing. So it's like it hurts that, like they fucked up so bad and everyone hates it because like It's something I could play with my wife Yeah, it's, it's overwatch. It's still overwatch. I know but like I, just it's tarnished.
Speaker 3:
I can't even play overwatch anymore like I used to. I get just so like sad when I play.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, and I'm assuming the last one was the fallout 76.
Speaker 3:
Yeah, but everyone knows fallout 76.
Speaker 1:
There's no point of really going into it. Yeah, i still refuse. One day I will convince post to play that game with me, dude one day I would play it honestly.
Speaker 3:
I feel like it could be.
Speaker 1:
Why was I? I don't know I think I have no idea why you're trying to keep me to play in the first place. I don't remember. It was only a couple years ago. Yeah, one day. One day, we're gonna play it.
Speaker 3:
I will join in.
Speaker 1:
You know, i really only had two, two major points I wanted to get out of my system before we go. Here is Number one, starfield. Now, i don't know if any of you guys are as excited For Starfield as I am.
Speaker 3:
But before we jump into Starfield, can we talk about the RGG summit? Guys, this is a quick little thing about it. It's the you people that make the yakuza games.
Speaker 1:
Get it out of your system, boy.
Speaker 3:
Okay, so they had their own summit a day after the showcase and in the beginning I was like I was watching on my PC and And they had English translators talking over the Japanese people, of course, and then the beginning of the stream everyone was the same volume, so you couldn't understand what the fuck was going on.
Speaker 4:
You would hear people talking.
Speaker 3:
Japanese and the translators were like struggling to keep up and a lot of times the translators were like speaking too fast and then going like It was so fucking funny. And then the YouTube chat was just like Making fun of the entire time but at the end they started liking the translators more because they fixed the audio eventually. But it took them like a solid 10 minutes or so And everything was just the same volume and it was so like funny and There was a male translator and a female translator and the male translator like took over like Six different characters at one point. There's like so many people on stage. I don't. I don't think they were prepared for it.
Speaker 1:
I'm so confused I'm gonna have to go look this up now.
Speaker 3:
I said it's in the I'm sure it's a link to the.
Speaker 1:
Oh, is there a link in the?
Speaker 3:
there's a link to it. Yeah, if you go into it and just you can real quick just listen to the beginning. It's so messy.
Speaker 1:
Oh, i gotta switch to the.
Speaker 3:
You know, i'll support all for all professional, like a lady, comes out and announces everyone and then, like the female translator, couple minutes after it's like well, welcome everyone. Overall the. That whole thing was really exciting to watch. It got me excited for the yakuza games even more and I'm already I already know, i'm pre-ordering them, i Ready to think so much money into those games And I just started working too, so it works out very nice.
Speaker 1:
That's right. Oh, welcome Mm-hmm working and spending all of your money on video games. I have a couple shells.
Speaker 2:
I have a couple shells I hear we have shells to prove that.
Speaker 4:
Alright, I'll like this.
Speaker 3:
Oh yeah, I see it again for monkey island.
Speaker 2:
We're doing a horrible job, man. Thank you.
Speaker 3:
I always see things so fun. It's very exciting to go back to the game for new content, but I can never, yeah, by the way, we can't hear shit.
Speaker 1:
Because the the person was talking, the translators talking at the same volume, and then you guys were talking at the same volume. Folks in the audience get to hear Yeah they got everybody talking all at once.
Speaker 3:
It was great, i should have shut up.
Speaker 1:
No, it's okay. I think it added to the charm of the bit It was a charming bit. Yes, so, starfield, i don't know if Henry are you is that on your radar?
Speaker 4:
It is on my radar. I have not watched anything like significant, but I know the minimum of hardware. I used to know the minimum of hardware specs. I was reading them earlier today. Oh we're here and max and recommended and I was. I was reading the technical details of it but I don't know, thinking, what it's about. I just know the hardware requirements and engine and whatnot.
Speaker 1:
Okay, i've noted I'm with Henry, but on purpose I have not watched anything, oh.
Speaker 2:
Related to Starfield or.
Speaker 1:
Spider-Man, because good. I'm gonna buy them both. I know I'm gonna buy them Should be not talking about it.
Speaker 4:
No trailers, too much about it. Great anymore like they can. They want that. Make me more. They can really ruin a series. Or also reading people's comments on a trailer Oh, it's awesome.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, I won't go to the start, there was a couple things that were spoiled. I'm not gonna bring them up. But you're in space, that there's space involved. I I shouldn't have asked, i know, but I had to tell you No, it's really well. No you really wanted to know. I Gotta ask Josh Are you gonna be getting the high value collectors edition version of Starfield?
Speaker 3:
No, oh, but you get a little watch. Is that what's in it?
Speaker 1:
It's a case Like in in fallout you get a. You know there's the pit boy pit boy. Well in Starfield you get a watch a smart watch. Which, by the way, that you get that watch in the collectors edition. But it's not even like a smart watch. It just tells time, that's I mean. You know it's still cool, it's just a little.
Speaker 3:
Oh, Isn't it come with a custom control?
Speaker 1:
Oh it doesn't come with the controller.
Speaker 3:
Oh, I thought it by one.
Speaker 1:
The controller separate, yeah, but okay, well, we won't spend too much time on it. Then I just I could tell you this what they showed. Like I don't have any reservations. I feel like this is going to be a really good game. I mean, they showed a ton of gameplay and And I think it dummy I just you get your face reminded me of There was a clip where someone said that they wanted to. They like to use stealth, and I shouldn't have even brought it up now so all the all the all of these people were talking about all their different play styles and There was just a woman who She just it was just how she said it, and oh sure in her stature. She was just like. I like to play stealthily and, me being live, i couldn't hold it together and I just let out a Laugh. And then Dom.
Speaker 2:
I.
Speaker 1:
Was just. You know, it's someone who you know might struggle to be stealthy in real life. You know, like myself, and I just found it funny, i couldn't hold, i couldn't hold it in, so anyways, oh, and Starfield.
Speaker 3:
If, if that game Succeeds, that could be like one of the most ambitious games ever.
Speaker 1:
Well, i think it already is one of the most ambitious games ever at this point. Yeah, no, so I don't think, if the game succeeds, it would be ambitious, because it's ambitious before it delivers. Yeah, my bad Yeah but yeah, i mean, i know what you're saying. So I Think the last thing that I really wanted to bring up though, today, guys, was You guys know who Dan Hauser is right. Is that the take two or GTA?
Speaker 3:
guy Yeah, he was like star.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, he was one of the main writers rock star GTA. You know all that. Who left rock star in 2020? I think it was. Yeah, well, both of them left right, both the brothers.
Speaker 2:
I thought it was just in.
Speaker 1:
I thought it was just Dan, so forgive me if I'm wrong, but I could be wrong. He went out and he started a studio With you know who knows what it was gonna be, but they had the name Back then it was so I'm. The studio is called absurd ventures. Okay now, obviously you know Dan Hauser, his history with rock star all the way back to 1999 or whatever it was. Do you know what their tagline is? and it's actually kind of annoying to me, but their tagline is storytelling, philanthropy, ultraviolence. I Love it. I love Josh loves it. I just feel like overly edgy. Yes, that's why I love it. Ironically, i love it.
Speaker 3:
Oh, okay, all right, cuz it's so stupid.
Speaker 1:
Dude. it's so like like when I hear ultra violence, i just go straight to manhunt, like in the whole controversy behind that game, for being whatever it was. So they it's. The whole studio is building narrative worlds, creating characters and writing stories for a diverse variety of genres, without regard to medium, to be produced for live action animation, video games and others. So they started the studio back in 2021. Actually, i'm just kind of curious what you guys might think, and, henry, i'll start with you, just because I feel like We've been. I'm the one for the ride baby.
Speaker 4:
I'm yeah this is such a corpo response, but I'm gonna give it anyway. I think it's really cool when people Take a risk like that. You left it, i mean as I'm assuming that he left in good terms but you left a really good, cushy, potentially a high-level corporate job at a company that makes a bunch of money, for better, for worse, and You took a huge risk, and I don't know what their investment structure looks like, but that's a really. That's a really cool if you're gonna, if you're gonna create something totally new, totally unique, and you You threw. You threw away a really cushy, easy, prop, probably easier job. Yeah, to do so, to do something that you're passionate about or interested in, that's really cool If you can deliver on it. What? what does ultra violence mean? I don't know, but you know.
Speaker 1:
I'm very high levels of violence.
Speaker 4:
I was right. Is that you know that do with a chainsaw to cut me through somebody? I don't know. I Mean that's fair. I.
Speaker 1:
Just think of manhunt like that's like the word ultra violence in my brain. Just I, immediately I don't even care if it was Dan Hauser or not, it goes to manhunt just because of that game Are, you know is being so consolidated, like you see Activision.
Speaker 4:
You see all these companies are kind of forming and Right and it's. It's nice to see new studios and new entities get into the game Or at least, or at least break off and do their own thing. I don't think it's out there. That's necessarily a bad thing. I think some of these companies go. When you let more of an artistic direction guide your product, you get a Typically a better solution, right? That's like when you, when you have a dev, lead a company or a former dev or whatever, right You, my opinion, the product and the final product turns out better than someone you know Got their MBA, he's never played a video game, right? You know That. That's sorry that there's my corpo response, but it's also what I believe Corpo.
Speaker 1:
That was actually I. I'm gonna two takes number one Based on his tagline I'm nervous, damn Hold on.
Speaker 3:
I'm accounting your takes.
Speaker 1:
Oh, okay. It makes me nervous for what we can expect out of GTA 6. Why, oh, i don't know if he left, necessarily Because of creative differences? I Or what it was, because Dan, from my understanding, was in charge of a lot of it was not in charge of, but he did a lot of the Writing for a lot of the series that they did and so can I? um, can I interject real quick? you can, yeah, so can you read the tagline once again story, storytelling, philanthropy and ultra violence? So I think They're going for hyperbole and a bit of a juxtaposition there With philanthropy and ultra violence. Like I think it's a goof, like it's a joke, like I don't think that's actually serious. Okay, yeah, all right. So you have a point, because and I was at some point gonna wiggle my way down that line But if you look at their website, if you look at their their YouTube video or whatever videos, content that they already have out There, which is not a lot, doesn't have a lot of views, not a lot of eyes on it yet, but it's all super sarcastic feeling in total okay, okay, yeah so like That. Yeah, I was at some point gonna wiggle my way into into that note.
Speaker 2:
So it's tongue-in-cheek.
Speaker 1:
Yes, i like that. However, i'm a very literal person, if you couldn't, oh, literal post, that's, that's my, that's my nickname, i I Don't know if he left on creative difference, like in terms of because of creative differences. But, you know, maybe it's like it's, it's just something to think about, maybe it's a hot take, but you know in Dom I think you might have even said this to me, or somebody said this to me in the past that You know they're worried about GTA 6 potentially being too safe To appeal. You know, to not be as risky woke.
Speaker 3:
Woke oh, please do not use that word here police, that's.
Speaker 1:
But that's what you hear. Right well, that's what you hear is.
Speaker 3:
It's so annoying to hear that word.
Speaker 1:
I would you know, and maybe it was something where he wants that, that that freedom to go about and just make what he wants as Risky as he wants, you know, without the woke mind virus sure I mean whatever taking.
Speaker 3:
I mean whatever.
Speaker 1:
People want to make what they want to make, and I'm totally right. I'm totally cool with that. Well, to be fair, i just looked it up because I remembered there was something weird with it and he He had taken like a sabbatical in 2019 For like a while and then he just formally left in 2020, so I think it was more so just kind of a. He was hanging it up, probably was sick of his role, of where he was and who knows how much hands on he even had at that point. Yeah, and maybe he was more on the business end of it rather than the that's what I'm saying, this is a creative move for sure for him, right? So?
Speaker 3:
I don't know. It's interesting, so wait, what year did he leave rockstar 2020?
Speaker 1:
2020.
Speaker 3:
Oh, okay, i was gonna say if he did the writing for like gca online, good, i'm glad he's gone.
Speaker 1:
Oh No, that was the that was. There was somebody who got a lot of like hate As it was, so I can't remember what her name was, but she was like the lead creative director for Red Dead Online And she got so much.
Speaker 3:
Right, I remember what her name is. No, no, I shouldn't say that that's not all you shouldn't.
Speaker 1:
It was a bit. It was a bit a Out of proportion, i'd say.
Speaker 3:
I'd imagine I was what the say. It was like little tiny things like oh you canceled red Dead online, That's fucked up. But I forgot that this is the internet. Yeah, yeah, it's horrible nevermind, she's definitely didn't deserve the heat that she probably But I mean smoke.
Speaker 1:
There's fire.
Speaker 3:
So I'm fucking post.
Speaker 1:
What a hot take. People deserve at least a little of the harassment they receive. Online Harassment no, but you know what I mean. Where there's smoke, there's fire. If she wrote a bad video, game.
Speaker 2:
She deserves to not be able to leave her house and be safe.
Speaker 1:
No, okay, well, I don't we're doing ourselves. And giving criticism I think are two separate things. Like, if you see it's the internet though point Well taken that you know people can't stop with criticism They got to take it straight to harassing or wanting to punch people in the face, right? So like that's just how it is on the internet.
Speaker 3:
Red Red Dead Online could have been. That was absolutely amazing. It could read it online had.
Speaker 1:
I don't think, i don't think it could have been well and it's. I Agree with Josh actually, because look at the difference in what GTA like the GTA role-play servers, for example compared to what you get out of yeah red dead, like it's just doesn't have that same draw and there's not enough for there's not enough there for me I think there was enough, because That was.
Speaker 3:
That was one of the few games I like to grind and exploring that universe is always pleasant And they always had nice ambient music and that's what drives me with games. So I definitely could have been playing it to this day if well content they were producing was fresh and nice and new.
Speaker 1:
I do have good news for you. You live in California. Don't get a horse, ride out into the, you know, into the, whatever they have over there, and take it down to the Baja. I don't care have my own red dead put, yeah, put on the soundtrack in your in your headphones and Trot along Baja chicken chalupa from Taco Bell. I miss those So much. We just went on like four different tangents in a row. Why we have bite-sized bits and discussions? because we can't topic ever Bite-sized bitches. Yeah, so I feel like I've had my piece. Does anybody else everybody, anything else That they want to throw out? get out on the record. Let something out, henry, i'm not singling you a quack.
Speaker 2:
I like my name comes up on the screen.
Speaker 1:
That's great. It's very cute better.
Speaker 4:
No, i nothing this. Nothing else to say. Guys, this has this has been a ton of fun and definitely, if you get, everyone is listening. If you're not in the giveaway, join it. Tune into this show. There's a lot more hijinks coming. It's a good place to be yeah, we don't stop it.
Speaker 1:
We've actually can't stop. Old stop, can't stop. Won't stop. Is you're darn tootin?
Speaker 4:
Always, am, always am man.
Speaker 3:
That's almost a tagline, the last thing I want to say is My name is Tom, i don't let's meet you, and I have more hair on my head than everyone in here combined. Damn.
Speaker 1:
Are you talking specifically on the head?
Speaker 3:
on the head, on the head.
Speaker 1:
I Did want to say next month, because we'll be having our episode next week standard recording. It'll be a good time, but next month we've got a pretty, pretty big month I just want to give you guys kind of huge heads up on. Speaker 3:

Speaker 1:

If you haven't checked him out, make sure you go check him out on twitchtv slash bike man. It's fun, really fun content, really good commentary too. Who shout out to suggest a gaming on YouTube? crack shout out to Dom for having hair and Quack and also quack, and then also he shout out to me for my nuclear coffee. Nuclear coffee, wicom, if you'd like some good stuff it's really good.
Speaker 4:
Actually, you know what this is. This is an unofficial Henry Sponsorship or support, i don't know what you're gonna call it, but endorsement, endorsement. I got a lot of it here and That's that's paying him. I actually do. You know what's in here right now? His? yeah, it's nuclear coffee. It's the quarantine blend. It's fantastic. If it's still available on your store, get it on a real note about post this coffee.
Speaker 3:
It's the first coffee I had that I liked.
Speaker 4:
Yeah, honestly, it's really good. I would just say that.
Speaker 3:
Bye.
